Didn’t make the conference? Thanks to Viocorp you won’t miss out.

Thanks to our sponsors Viocorp we’re able to provide you with audio recordings of nearly all the presentations from the conference. This is great for any of you who weren’t able to make it to the conference. We understand that distance can be an obstacle especially if you’re based in the outer reaches of New South Wales. It’s also great for those of you were able to be there to refer back to and listen to any of the presentations you didn’t see if you were in the other room!

We’re also happy to bring you a feature video podcast of our closing keynote speaker Lachlan Hardy, who presented on Local Government on the Open Web.

John Allsopp

Want to listen to them now? Okay, this is where you’ll find them:

They’re all linked from the speakers & preso’s page, so if you can’t remember who spoke on what, and who you want to listen do, you’ll find under the session descriptions the audio files are linked there in WMA and MP3 format.

http://lgwebnetwork.org/podcasts08/podcasts08.html - This page also just lists all the audio file recordings if you don’t want to sift through all the speaker sessions and bios.

What about slides?

We’ve encouraged all the speakers to put their slides up on slideshare, we haven’t got all of them, but we’ve linked all the ones we next to the audio file.

From Slideshare you can download or comment on the slides.

Lachlan Hardy, our closing keynote speaker at the We Believe in Community conference did an excellent presentation on Local Government on the Open Web. And to keep in the spirit of openness you can now view his presentation in full technicolour thanks to the wonders of online vide, and our Streaming and Podcast Sponsor: Viocorp.

If you’re interested in learning more about what the Open Web is, and how it can be applied in government and organisations, then watch the full video of Lachlan Hardy’s presentation: http://lgwebnetwork.org/podcasts08/Lachlan-Hardy.html

You can also view or download Lachlan’s slides on Slideshare.

Thanks to Viocorp who recorded the session and who are also providing audio podcasts of the other presentations - these will be up very soon and we’ll let you know when they’re available.

Thanks to Lachlan for this great presentation whilst standing under the heat of the camera lights, and thanks to all our speakers, looking forward to sharing your podcasts and slides soon!

If you’re coming to the conference then there’s some great ways you can participate online, and if you’re are not lucky enough to be coming you can follow what’s happening on Twitter and Flickr.

Twitter

We’ll be using Twitter to provide an online message board during the conference. To make sure your posts appear tag them with #lgwn08 – you can use this to comment on the conference as it happens (positive and appropriate comments please!) you can also ask questions to the conference organisers, and suggest venues for meeting up after the conference . Watch posts from the conference at: http://search.twitter.com/search?q=lgwn08

What is Twitter?</h3
If you want to know more about Twitter then read my previous blog post on Twittering for Local Government. Or this is a great article on the benefits of using Twitter.

How can I post “tweets” during the conference?

During the conference we expect (if all goes according to plan) to have wireless connection so you can “Tweet” from your laptop, and you can also post tweets via SMS, unfortunately you can no longer receive updates via SMS in Australia (hopefully not for long), but the below options might be useful:

m.twitter.com works on browser-enabled phones

m.slandr.net works on browser-enabled phones

TwitterMail works on email-enabled phones

Cellity works on java-enabled phones

TwitterBerry works on BlackBerry brand phones

Twitterific works on iPhones

We’ll be projecting the twitter posts on a wall or a monitor somewhere at the conference so you can watch what’s being posted during the breaks (we’ll let you know where that is on the day).

Flickr your photos

Upload photos you take at the conference to Flickr and tag them with lgwn08.

If you’re not into photography then you can view photos by using the search on Flickr and typing in lgwn08 in the search box.

You’ll also be able to view our photos at: www.flickr.com/photos/lgwebnetwork

Hope to see you there tomorrow, if you can’t make it though then I hope you enjoy following us online.

Okay sorry there’s a few gaps, we’re finalising a few details still but we’re nearly there. Organising the program was a bit like trying to solve a Rubik’s cube, but it’s looking pretty good now. If you want to know what sessions will be on which day have a look at the draft program (this could be changed before the conference but we’ll try and keep it as close to this as possible, we promise!).
