Follow us at the conference
By Diana Mounter : August 20, 2008 | In Conference 08 |If you’re coming to the conference then there’s some great ways you can participate online, and if you’re are not lucky enough to be coming you can follow what’s happening on Twitter and Flickr.
We’ll be using Twitter to provide an online message board during the conference. To make sure your posts appear tag them with #lgwn08 – you can use this to comment on the conference as it happens (positive and appropriate comments please!) you can also ask questions to the conference organisers, and suggest venues for meeting up after the conference . Watch posts from the conference at: http://search.twitter.com/search?q=lgwn08
What is Twitter?
If you want to know more about Twitter then read my previous blog post on Twittering for Local Government. Or this is a great article on the benefits of using Twitter. How can I post “tweets” during the conference?
During the conference we expect (if all goes according to plan) to have wireless connection so you can “Tweet” from your laptop, and you can also post tweets via SMS, unfortunately you can no longer receive updates via SMS in Australia (hopefully not for long), but the below options might be useful:
- m.twitter.com works on browser-enabled phones
- m.slandr.net works on browser-enabled phones
- TwitterMail works on email-enabled phones
- Cellity works on java-enabled phones
- TwitterBerry works on BlackBerry brand phones
- Twitterific works on iPhones
We’ll be projecting the twitter posts on a wall or a monitor somewhere at the conference so you can watch what’s being posted during the breaks (we’ll let you know where that is on the day).
Flickr your photos
Upload photos you take at the conference to Flickr and tag them with lgwn08.
If you’re not into photography then you can view photos by using the search on Flickr and typing in lgwn08 in the search box.
You’ll also be able to view our photos at: www.flickr.com/photos/lgwebnetwork
Hope to see you there tomorrow, if you can’t make it though then I hope you enjoy following us online.
