Questions about the conference
By Diana Mounter : July 9, 2008 | In Conference 08 |
We’ve had a few queries about the conference, here’s some of your questions answered…
Q. Why are you offering the option of coming to only 1 day?
A. Because we wanted to keep things low cost, so if you only have the budget to come for one day then you can still come for some of the conference. Plus we know a lot of you are very busy and might find it difficult to take 2 days off work. But if you can come to both days then we strongly recommend you!
Q. Is there one day in particular that will be best suited to me?
A. No, both days have cover a variety of topics, we’ve spread things out so that there is a mix of low-tech introductory sessions, as well as more technical sessions for developers and web coordinators, and strategy management sessions that are suited to all. As well as a few plenary sessions, the conference has split streams on both days so you can choose the session that best suits you.
Q. Previously you said 1 day would be for Local-e, if I’m not a Local-e member should I still come to both days?
A. Yes! Both days are for EVERYONE! There are a couple of specific sessions for Local-e members only, but whilst those sessions are on we’ve made sure there is a presentation that will be suitable for everyone else. Most sessions will be relevant to everyone, whether you’re a Local-e member or not. We had feedback on our survey that you all wanted to mix together, we agreed, and felt it was the best way to help build a community amongst all local governments, no matter what CMS you’re using.
Q. Will there be any social events?
A. Yes! We will have networking drinks after the conference on both days. We’ll gather suggestions during the day for a suitable venue for those who want to carry on and have a big night out in Sydney.

Hi,
Just wanted to congratulate the event organisers and speakers for such a smooth and inspiring conference!
Been having fun implementing some of the guest’s ideas and bothering my brain with others.
It is unfortunate I was too busy [shouldn’t complain about having a full card] to attend the second day and have been waiting patiently for the podcasts. Please let me know if:-
a) they’re right in front of me and up;
b) they’re actually never going to appear here and if i can contact the speakers for their notes another way;
c) i can be of help getting them online for you - you have my details.
Thanks and congrats again, you did a really fine job at catering for all the different levels of expertise in your audience. And most impressive, i thought, were the well thought out peripherals like the bios/note book and the beautiful yet practical program necklace, i still wear mine all the time;-)
Sorry if not the most appropriate place for these comments but i really wanna get down to some Buchanan, Crozier and Hardy…

Hi Dannielle,
Thanks for the compliments. Glad you enjoyed the conference.
No the podcasts weren’t right in front of you. I’ve just put most of them up now (actually audio files to play or download rather than podcast), they are linked from the speakers sessions description.
Keep coming back to check for the others to be up, or if you’re subscribed to the blog posts I’ll be doing a post when they’re all up.
Thanks,
Diana
