“Learning Web Standards just got easier” – You can now learn to build a better web with Opera’s new Web Standards Curriculum.

Pad, pen, and laptopProviding a clear study path for learning web standards is something the industry has struggled with. The gap just got a bit smaller when Opera launched the site a couple of weeks ago. It already provides a good foundation with plans to expand on the currently 23 articles into other key areas, and being licensed under the Creative Commons license means it can be used in a range of ways.

It will be useful to people who are new to learning web standards, or who are wanting to improve their understanding, and to teachers and team leaders to help train staff.

McFarlane Prize for 2008

The McFarlane Prize recognizes excellence in Australian web design and development in the broadest sense, and is decided by a jury of experts in design, coding, accessibility and usability.

The prize, which was started in 2006 in memory of Australian web and open source pioneer Nigel McFarlane is open to any Australian web developers or development teams, for a site completed between August 1st 2007 and August 31st this year. Continue reading McFarlane Prize for 2008…

We’ve managed to gather an awesome list of speakers for our first conference. Check out the session descriptions and bios on the speakers page now.

Okay sorry there’s a few gaps, we’re finalising a few details still but we’re nearly there. Organising the program was a bit like trying to solve a Rubik’s cube, but it’s looking pretty good now.
